I’m Jude and I study Mechanical Engineering. I’m in my 3rd year with the team and I am currently the Treasurer.
What roles have you held in the past and what made you want to become Treasurer?
I joined the team as a member of the Chassis department in 2018 and became the Co-head of Chassis the following season. This year I wanted to learn more about the team as a whole, so became treasurer to get the chance to work with every department of the team, as well as management.
What does the role of Treasurer involve?
Treasurer may not be the most glamorous role in the team, but I work in the background managing the teams funding sources, as well as making sure all the departments have the money they need to get on with their projects.
What challenges have you faced in your role so far?
As my role involves communication with all team members, the COVID situation this year has meant that I’ve had to really stay on the ball, using video meetings, emails, and any other methods I can to keep up our usual standard of communication.
What is your favourite memory from your time in TAU Racing?
My favourite memory from my time in the team would have to be finishing the TAU-20 chassis. We had spent months designing, redesigning, jigging, cutting and welding, so it was a really great day when we finally finished it. All of the early mornings and late nights finally paid off.
Why do you think people should join TAU Racing?
In my experience, being a member of TAU is a great way to put what I’ve learned at university into practice, as well as developing practical engineering and business skills. It is also a great introduction into a professional environment, it is fun, but at the same time can teach you how to work as part of a diverse team, as well as dealing with real companies outside the team.
