Hello, my name is Aleena Joy, I am a third year Accountancy and Finance student. I have been in the team for 3 years and I have taken on the role as Secretary this year.
What roles have you held in the past and what made you want to become Secretary?
I joined as a member of the business department in first year, where I was able to help the team develop ideas and work on finances. I enjoy talking to people, and I love to be responsible for organizing and scheduling things. So, it became apparent that I would be able to fit into the role of secretary well.
What does the role of Secretary involve?
As a secretary I am responsible for preparing meeting minutes, writing newsletters, updating the team with upcoming events, and travel bookings. I am glad to be a part of the society during this unpredictable period, to witness how the society is adapting to uncertain situations and finding new ways to connect and support my fellow team members.
What challenges have you faced in your role so far?
A key aspect of my role is communicating, working remotely has proved to be difficult due to the lack of face-to-face interactions. Although adjusting to the new circumstances were challenging, we are finding new innovative ways to spend time together virtually as a team to increase the team morale and enthusiasm.
What is your favourite memory from your time in TAU Racing?
My favourite memory from TAU was in third year during TAU week, where I was able to meet and speak to a lot of the team members. I enjoyed that week because it was my first time really engaging with other departments outside of business.
Why do you think people should join TAU Racing?
TAU Racing provides a platform for you to implement everything you have learnt in lectures, whether it is in engineering or business. If you are interested in becoming a part of the society, please come along to our Wednesday sessions and we hope to see you there.
